**No matter how old the hardware may be, the Super Nintendo is capable of producing some absolutely stunning sounds and melodies. Of the many titles utilising this powerful audio range, Chrono Trigger’s soundtrack is often regarded as holding some of the best 16-bit compositions ever made. In an attempt to expand this game’s music, ROM hackers have implemented the homebrew MSU-1 chip into the game to provide CD quality tunes over the original.

While you could argue the 1995 classic needs no modifications whatsoever, the MSU-1 chip simply gives us another avenue to experience what made Squaresoft’s RPG so great. The team behind this creation have decided to do the original justice by replacing the game’s soundtrack with Blake Robinson’s atmospheric Chrono Trigger Symphony Vol 1.

Those interested in enjoying this music expansion will need to have a legally obtained Chrono Trigger ROM file and have purchased the Chrono Trigger Symphony Vol 1. Once the MSU-1 ROM hack has been applied to the game (full instructions can be found within the download), the CD quality audio can then be enjoyed either on the original hardware using the SD2SNES flash cartridge, or via the Super Nintendo emulators BSNES and higan.**

Espera... ¿Me quieres decir que el chip de sonido de una Super Nintendo original es capaz de aguantar música orquestada gracias a este nuevo "chip" que han inventado? (Claro que, como menciona el artículo, solo es posible si tienes un cartucho especial que te permita usar el ROM modificado, pero igual me parece curioso el hecho de que produzca ese sonido una SNES).

Personalmente no veo la necesidad de agregar sonido orquestado al grandioso Chrono Trigger, aunque al mismo tiempo entiendo la razón por la que tan dedicadas personas se tomaron la molestia. La música es fantástica y debería ser escuchada por todos en su máxima expresión. Creo que solo soy un purista y por eso prefiero lo original.

A mi me gustaría ver el rendimiento de la consola corriendo música orquestada (además sería un buen pretexto para repasar este juego), solo que no sé si el Super UFO lo aguante (lo dudo), estoy intentando hacer la prueba en el emulador de la computadora, pero hay que comprar los discos con los arreglos musicales...no es que me duela el codo peeeeeero hay otras cosillas que se me antojan comprar en este momento, tendré que pensarlo, por cierto, los arreglos suenan muy bien

Como bien dice ahi, solo el SD2SNES permite reproducir la musica.
